David Leaver is the Vice President of Refining at the Galveston Bay Refinery. The refinery is the second-largest refinery in the United States, with a 593,000 barrels per day crude capacity. Approximately 1,550 Marathon employees and between 1,500 to 4,500 contractors, depending on project and maintenance activities, work daily at the site – helping to meet the energy needs of today.
Leaver, a 35-year industry expert, has held several positions during his career with Marathon, including positions in engineering, reliability, operations, and maintenance. Most recently, he was the Maintenance Manager at the Canton Refinery from 2010 to 2012, the Maintenance Manager at Detroit Refinery from 2012 to 2016, the Maintenance Manager at the Texas City Galveston Bay Refinery from 2016 to 2019, and General Manager at the Detroit Refinery from 2019-2022.
Leaver is married to Karen Leaver and has three children and five grandchildren. He has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky.
