Constable Derreck Rose is a proud 1979 graduate of La Marque High School, where he lettered three years at the varsity level in football. Constable Rose played two years of football at Wharton County Junior College and Lamar University.
Constable Rose began his law enforcement career in 1984 with the Galveston County Sheriff Department. While at the Sheriff's department, Constable Rose was promoted twice in 1987. His first promotion was to Sergeant where he oversaw the Traffic Enforcement Program and patrol duties. His second promotion that year was to Detective Sergeant in the warrant division.
Constable Rose was assigned to the United States Marshall Office Violent Offenders Task Force in 1991 where he aided in the apprehension of fugitives. During Constable Rose's tenure with the Sheriff's department he received the 50 Club's Officer of the Year Award twice, once as a patrol deputy and then again as a Detective. After leaving the Sheriff's department in 1993, Constable Rose organized and established Texas City ISD Police department where he served as Chief of Police for 12 years.
In 2005, Constable Rose was elected as the Constable of Galveston County Precinct 3.
Constable Rose is very active in the community, he sits on the Board of Directors for United Way Galveston County Mainland, Chairman of the Galveston County Coalition of Black Democrats, Board Member of La Marque Alumni Association and My Sister Keeper, a 501 (c) (3) founded by his wife Karen, which helps individuals going through cancer. Constable Rose and his wife, Karen, have three children, Kisha, Nikki and Jordan and three grandchildren. Constable Rose also serves as an ordained deacon at Greater St. Matthews Church under the leadership of Rev. William Randall.
