Hunger Games: Student United Way Collects 12,000 Pounds of Food!!!

3rd Annual CSHS Hunger Games

We are thrilled to announce that the Student United Way Clubs at Clear Springs High School and Texas City High School have collected a combined total of more than 12,000 pounds of food for the Galveston County Food Bank!!! Each Student United Way Club hosted the Hunger Games, where clubs on campus, like NHS and JROTC and Band, competed to collect the most food. The Clear Springs SUW Club declared the Charger Band their Hunger Games winner, with a total of 1,598 pounds! The Individual winner was Maria Calvo, who collected 1,401 pounds of food by herself! Maria is a CSHS Senior who has been the Individual Hunger Games Winner since CSHS started the Hunger Games! In three years, Maria has collected 2,536 pounds of food for people in need! Texas City High School's Student United Way Club hosted their 1st Annual Hunger Games Competition in 2015! Texas City High School students collected more than 4,000 pounds of food! Congratulations and THANK YOU to the TCHS Key Club, which came in first place, and NHS, which was a close second.
